Official Fall 2024 Chapter Recap

13th Annual Alumni Dinner: “Redefining Excellence” Recap

Every year, our chapter hosts our Annual Alumni Dinner. Traditionally held in early spring but now a December highlight, this event proved to be a resounding success—avoiding busy season and reaching max capacity.

The turnout was the perfect culmination of our efforts during the Fall semester and highlighted the growing strength of our community. It truly stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of our chapter.

With this year’s theme of “Redefining Excellence”, we were surrounded by several alumni who embody this ideal, making the selection of panelists difficult.

Joining us for our esteemed panel discussion were:

  • Shantel Deleon, CPA

    • Tech Manager @ EY

  • Nigel Franklyn, CPA, CGMA, MBA

    • Vice President of Finance & IT @ Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health

  • Mohamed Kaba, CPA

    • Vice President @ Goldman Sachs

Each panelist brought their unique, seasoned perspectives from the accounting and finance industries, sharing invaluable insights and inspiration that elevated the evening to new heights.

It wasn’t just a dinner; it was a star-studded gathering where past and present members united for a night of elegance, recognition, and connection.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our alumni, corporate partners, faculty, BMCC visitors, and members for making this an unforgettable evening!

About Us

Charted in 1978 by SEEK student James Lewis and SEEK counselor Patricia Johnson, NABA (formerly known as the National Association of Black Accountants) Baruch College is a prestigious academic and professional organization committed to closing the racial opportunity gap. We aim to prepare driven students of color for successful careers in the corporate world.

We accomplish this through weekly informational workshops, student office hours, and newsletters, a year-long rigorous mentorship program, and semi-semester volunteering opportunities.

Our initiatives are tailored to support students as they pursue internships and careers across various business sectors, including accounting, consulting, finance, and information technology.

The “+” was internally added to our on-campus promotion since Fall 2023 as an attempt to emphasize and better communicate the historic organization’s often-overlooked inclusivity of all background and majors.
